The origin of Chili
Although many consider peppers to be a delicacy in Mexico, it is clearly not where they came from! Who knew?
However, one ingredient in the middle of the pepper – pepper – comes from Mesoamerica (a region that includes parts of Mexico and Central America). They are also an important ingredient in Mexican cuisine. So we get confused!
The exact origin of the dish is unclear, but many historians trace its roots to San Antonio, Texas. You can dive deeper into the history of pepper here.
